DNS (Domain Name System) Configuration
Hi ! Today we are going to study about DNS configuration and to setup in packet tracer.
What do you know about DNS ?
Domain Name Servers (DNS) are the Internet's equivalent of a phone book. They maintain a directory of domain names and translate them to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. This is necessary because, although domain names are easy for people to remember, computers or machines, access websites based on IP addresses.
We can see our DNS topology is given below as screenshot ;
Now we can see that the screenshot of Server0 is our DHCP Server and Server1 is our DNS Server.
The next step we have to do is that setup IP address on Server0.
We should setup DHCP on Server0
Now the next step we have to do setup IP on Server1
Now we should go to PC1, click desktop by selecting IP configuration and select DHCP
Go to the Web Browser and enter server 0 IP address. Now you can access the server.
Let us set DNS on server 1 and click Add by the way we should on the DNS service button.
At last we have done it. But in this tutorial, Router0 is the additional thing we have to complete our task and we can use it. We should set IP on interface FastEthernet0/0 to change state up.
In this screenshot we can see the change of red to green by communicating with each other.
Therefore,We have completed successfully our DNA configuration lab in Packet tracer version 7.0.
