Inter VLAN Routing configuration
Today in this tutorial we are going to learn about Inter VLAN routing configuration.
What is Inter VLAN Routing and its use ? Can you tell me the benefits of using Inter VLAN Routing ?
Inter VLAN Routing allows hosts and PCs in different vlan to communicate with each other.
So that we can all know that PCs in same VLAN can easily communicate with each other but you want any machines or PCs from other VLAN to communicate with you for that reason we have to configure Inter VLAN Routing.
Here in this tutorial will explains step by step topology in easy method to understand this Inter VLAN Routing Configuration which is given below;
Step 1: Assign IP Address to all PCs
PC0
PC1
PC2
PC3
Step 2: Configure VLAN, Assign switch ports to VLAN and set ports to access mode.
Step 3: To create Trunk Port on Switch Port in which it is connected with Router
Since, here in this lab interface Fa0/5 port in which switch is connected with router and this port will have to route both VLAN network so we have to create Trunk Port on this interface.
Step 4: Go to Router interface fa0/0 and turn on interface
Step 5: We have to create sub-interfaces, set 802.1Q trunking protocol and enter IP address on each sub-interface
These are the simple steps to understand how to do Inter VLAN Routing Configuration lab in cisco packet tracer simulation version 7.0.
