VPN Configuration Lab using Routers

VPN Configuration using Routers

Hi ! everyone on today we are going to learn about how to configure VPN using routers. This is shown in a form of topology as screen shots given below.

Step 1: First thing is that we should assign ip address on both PCs

 Assigning on PC0

 Assigning on PC1

Step 2: Configuration process done on all the Routers

Configuration on Router1

 Configuration on Router2

Configuration on Router3

Now we can see that the state of change to up in green color which is shown below in screenshot.

Step 3: We have to do default configuration routing method

Default configuration on Router1

 Default configuration on Router3

Step 4: Now we should check the connections by pinging on routers

Go to Router1 and ping with Router3

Now go to Router3 and ping Router1

From the above screenshots of both the Routers pinging each other done successfully.

Step 5: After pinging we should create VPN Tunnel between Router1 & 2

First create VPN Tunnel on Router1

 Create VPN Tunnel in Router3

Step 6: Again we have to test communication between two Routers

We should check the connection on Router1 by pinging Router3

Check connection in Router3 by pinging Router1

Step 7: Do the Routing for created VPN Tunnel on both the Routers

Router1

 Router3

Step 8: The next method is to Test VPN Tunnel Configuration

Testing on Router1

 Testing on Router3

Step 9: We are going to see how to trace VPN Tunnel path

Now if you want to check what path VPN tunnel is using just go to any of the computer i.e PC and then ping another PC located in different network. And then trace the path using tracert. Its result will show the path followed by VPN Tunnel created by you.

By checking in PC3 on Pinging with PC1

Therefore, we have completed our lab session in VPN configuration using routers in the cisco Packet tracer version 7.0.
